Welcome

President:  David O'Halloran

The Tasmanian Council of Churches is a fellowship of Churches that confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the Scriptures and therefore seek to fulfill together their common calling to the glory of the one God:  Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Thus starts
our Constitution- a reminder that we are not a peak body making decisions,  nor making pronouncements for the Member Churches - rather a
fellowship striving to understand how to fulfill our common faith journey in our wonderful State.

At the same time there is a need for the Churches together to explore issues facing our communities, both Church, local and State, and to seek responses that present the wisdom of the Gospel message in a way that acknowledges differences yet reminds the community that our faith and beliefs are as valid in the world of today as at any other time in history.

Fifty years ago our Council was one of the first in the world to have the Roman Catholic Church as a full member and we are now seeking ways to broaden our membership to include working relationships with some of the new Pentecostal Churches in order that we might more closely fulfill Christ's prayer for his disciples - that they all may be one. ... Father, ... may they be one in us ... (St. John 17: 21).

As we work to make Christ's prayer a reality we invite you to share something of our journey - past, present and into the future - as we present our work to the wider community.
